Client Reviews

I purchased this Teknique DVD player to replace a Jensen JMV85 that stopped working. I was hesitant to acquire the Teknique DVD player due to the fact it had no evaluations on Amazon. I finish up going with it given that of the value, accessible color (beige/tan) and the weight. I was looking at many other brands that had multiple critiques but they did not come in beige/tan or were out of stock at the time.
The installation is in a 2004 Ford Eddie Bower Expedition with a sunroof. The sunroof adds some complexity to the installation for the reason that the DVD player actually hangs from the headliner. Therefore why the weight of the unit was an fundamental factor.
Installation:
I was dealing with a hole in the headliner from the prior installation and ended up mounting the Teknique's mounting plate to the Jensen mounting plate. It does not sound like it but it was the simplest alternative. The only issue I ran into associated to this unit was that the three dome light wires (power, ground, door switch) are 24 AWG which is especially thin and tough to perform with when working with crimp/twist connectors. The ends of the wire were stripped and had a small amount of solder on them so I guess they intended them to be solder connection. I just stripped each one a tiny more and then folded the wire back on itself a few times to thicken it up and give the crimp connector something additional to grab. I cannot actually comment on the usefulness of the installation instructions since the only issue I truly put to use was the wire diagram. But they did appear a small brief.
Capabilities:
IR Transmitter for wireless headphones: I briefly tested this and it seemed to operate fine.
FM Modulator: This did not work nicely, there seemed to be a little static on every single station I attempted. The Jensen unit had an external antenna for the FM transmitter and had certainly no issues. The Teknique's does have built in speakers and that is what we are employing. The sound out of the built in speakers is decent.
Last Memory Position: This is a function I wanted but the product description made no mention of it. The unit does have this but it is default off. It can be turned on utilizing the setup menu accessed through the remote control. Just a note, the remote manage makes use of coin cell batteries instead of AAA.
General:
Aside from the difficulties mentioned above I consider this is a fine DVD player for the cost. It has been installed for 1 month and has been working fine so far.
